In 2019, building work will begin on the new Heritage Lottery Funded regeneration of Wigan Archives and Local Studies space in Leigh Town Hall. The project aims to redevelop Wigan Borough's Archives with the creation of a new public search room, heritage exhibition space and expanded specialist storage strong rooms for the archive collections. A programme of cultural engagement activities, will investigate The Fire Within our Borough's history and encourage people to donate records to the Archives for preservation.
